Question Monitor displaying 480p

I bought an hdmi splitter for my cheap off brand capture card to record my xbox with obs. When i use the hdmi splitter i plug the xbox and monitors hdmi cable into it and then plug that into the capture cards input. But when its setup like this the monitor displays 480p and so does obs. When i plug my xbox hdmi cable directly into the capture card it works fine though, What do i do?

replace the splitter.
obviously it can't handle the bandwidth.

many off-brand and cheaper cables, extensions, splitters, hubs, etc use very low quality components and often do not offer their advertised performance.

when searching for any of these types of devices make sure you find a lot of customer reviews stating that it actually works for your own intended purpose.
