Monitor error "OUT OF RANGE"

I recently purchased a second monitor for the purpose of extending my desktop. I have a Dell Hybrid with 965 family chipset with a DVI port. I am using a DVI to dual VGA splitter to my original monitor and the new monitor.

Regardless of whether I connect the new monitor directly to the computer without using the splitter or using both monitors, the results are the same.

I can achieve cloned displays if I either disable my display adapter or boot in safe mode.

My driver is up to date.

Why doesn't my computer like the shiny new monitor?

It's the refresh rate for sure.

I finally figured out how to check my refresh rate using an awesome tutorial I found on the link below and discovered my refresh rate was already set at the prescribed 60 hz. Problem is still not solved.

what is your resolution for the screen and which did u set to use.

What monitor do u have?
