Monitor goes into power save mode on boot

Ive build a completely new computer, everything seems fine on boot but the monitor (wich is also new) goes into power save mode. Its not the monitor, nor the cable as it works on my ps3

Is the monitor connected to the graphics card (not motherboard)?

No, its connected to the mb

Then connect it to the graphics card and see if the monitor does get signal.

Try removing the graphics card (monitor connected to motherboard), leave single RAM module installed and start the board. See if working this way. Test each RAM slot.
