Monitor going out

Hello, I am curious fi you would be able to tell me why my monitor is going in and out randomly. I have tried moving the cable and tightening the connections with little success. I just moved into a new dorm and I do keep my room cold and I am curious if that would have anything to do with it. The Monitor is a Viewsonic.

Have you tried a different wall plug to see if could be just electrical? Then there is the monitors power cord itself with the little box that has the converter in it. That could be going defective or the plug ends loose.
