Monitor help please

Hi I have a motherboard with the VGA port but I don't have the VGA pc to moniter cable, my gpu is a gtx 650 ti ssc 2gb it has a Hdmi slot and my montier has the Hdmi slot and I also have the cabel for it

can I connet the moniter to my gpu instead of my motherboard

yes you can, and it is recommended to connect the cable directly to gpu
