Monitor jumps like crazy!

Hi! I'm using Windows 2000 running a Matrox G450 video card with updated driver for everything, monitor, motherboard, vid adapter. My problem is that everytime I switch to a certain resolution like 1024 x 768 or in DOS, the entire monitor screen jumps repeatedly in a verticle loop. I tried to change all sort of refresh rate but it doesn't work. (Again, the screen is not flickering, it goes in a fast verticle loop) The only resolution it can work is at 640 x 480, 800 x 600 and 1280 x 1024, 1600x1200.Is there any way to fix this problem? I've been searching to find the answer but no body seems to know. I posted it on Dell msg board and everybody receive like 3 replies and mine receive 0 🙁

And another question, on the specification page for 1600hs monitor http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/monitors/55347/specs.htm#resolution, it is stated that this monitor can goes up to 1600x1200 at 85HZ. But in my display properties, it can only let me go up to 75hertz, but if i uncheck the "modes that this monitor cannot display, it can go up to 85hertz.So I'm just wondering which is one of these is correct, my computer driver or dell's offical specification information?

Have you tried different Colors along with the 1024x768 resolution?

BTW--the refresh rate also depends on your video. But i would stick to 75 just to be on the safe side.

Still having the problem? If so it sounds like you have a vertical hold problem.... Yes just like TV :) You need to have it looked at or you can be naughty. If you want to be naughty then you have to leave the monitor unplugged for a few days. By doing so you are letting the charge in the capacitors disipate. You can take the cover off of the monitor and look for a round...possibly colored plug. It might loot like it has a slit in it and the PCB or circuit board should be labled V-Hold. You should turn this until the screen stops scrolling.

Hope this helps.

But that sounds dangerous, i'll definitely remmeber this if there's no other way. I'll blame on you if i mess it up :) j/k

Anyway, I still looking foward to see more suggestion b4 opening this. Thanks
