Monitor number 3!

I the last 6 months I have had 3 monitors go down with exactly the same problem. After a short time they start to go fuzzy and out focus as if the refresh rate was set wrong. I find it hard to believe that this is just bad luck and I am starting to think maybe the graphics card (which was new when I first started getting problems) maybe the cause.

Has anyone seen anything similar somewhere and offer me a reason for this.

Cheers

What monitor and graphics card did you have ??

Your Mouse moved. WINDOWS NT must restart for changes to take effect. Restart Now? [OK]

Was it the same monitor each time you replaced it??
If it was, it might be the monitor thats the problem.

I got the original monitor about 18 months ago, it was a 19" Belinea. Then about 6 months ago I got an Elsa GeForce2 Ultra. Two months after I got the graphics card the monitor went down with a fault, no problem I thought, got a warranty replacement, same model as the original.

About another two months after that the same fault appeared, got that monitor replaced by Belinea, but this time a newer model arrived... and guess what happened, yup, two months later the same again.

So as you can imagine Belinea are rather distrusting as I have had 3 monitors go down with the same thing in the last 6 months. I can’t really see it being bad luck as far as monitors go so I'm thinking that maybe the graphics card is the cause.

I have never pushed the monitor to the limit, in fact I'm sure it could take on anything the GeForce put its way.

So any ideas, the supplier of the card are saying that this is impossible so it leaves me stuck in limbo unless I can get some proof that this maybe the cause.

I agree with the video card company--I don't see how the graphics card could cause damage to 3 monitors. The only thing I can think of is if you set the refresh rate higher than the Monitor can handle. Did you??

And as long as you have that warranty, just keep returning your the monitor if it goes wrong rather than buying a new one.

I agree, can't see how the graphics card could cause this.

If it were possible, Belinea would explain why I'm sure.

After all, if they won't honour their own warranty, they need a good reason for it.

Power surge?

You do have power surge protection, don´t you?

You might just be lucky it hasn´t broken your other components! YET !!

Why should you learn from your mistakes?
Learn from other´s! It´s cheaper and less painfull! :-D

are there any strong magnetic fields in the area... they could be causing the fuzziness and mashed up refresh rates...

you do not strengthen the weak by weakening the strong

Given the description of the fault, a power surge is unlikely to be the cause.

They can affect equipment in different ways, but almost always blow power components, unsurprisingly.

I wouldn't be so sure about that...
2048x1536@75hz? You must have a very special Belinea 😉

More seriously, it can be a refresh rate to high for the monitor - check the video properties.
