Monitor or new GPU

Should I buy new monitor or new GPU? And will my current GPU be able to keep up with 144hz monitors?

I've been wondering if I should switch from my Asus vp228h to a new 144hz monitor or should i get a better graphics card.

My specs:

CPU: Intel i5-7500 3.4Ghz
MOB: Asus PRIME B250M-K
RAM: 8 Gb (2x4Gb) 2133Mhz
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 3G
PSU: Corsair V550

I mainly play games like The Witcher 3, NieR: Automata, Tekken 7 and looking forward to future titles like Vampyr, Hellblade, Darksiders 3.

gamegpu.com shows 116-152 FPS at 1080p in Witcher for your setup, so I guess you could start with monitor swap, as long as you don't go above 1080p, as 3Gb version of 1060 is not suited for resolutions higher then 1080p.

Right now I ran The Witcher 3 without V-Sync and uncapped framerate. Max FPS on ultra I get is 60 and lowest is 57.
