I have this monitor http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003NLBPRU?tag=newwpmu-20
Was thinking of getting this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160221&_ga=1.193993643.709248858.1454176799

I cant figure out what panel type my LG monitor is...I got it like 2-3 years ago without a box for like $50. I know its LED and its res is 1600x900. The "new" (refurb really) is a IPS panel and its res is 1920x1080. I'm kind of just wondering will I see a difference between these monitors? Or should I just save the money and spend it else where in life.

I just know nothing about that AOC monitor, I am always weary of cheap IPS panels like that and I cannot find a professional review on it. However if the customer reviews are anything to go buy it seems like a pretty good monitor for the price. Yes you will absolutely see a difference it will likely be night and day. I recently switched from a cheap 1080p acer tn panel to that asus I linked above and even that difference was jarring, I would imagine going from that very cheap 900p panel to a decent 1080p ips panel will be awesome.
The LG is a TN panel. If your looking for a cheap IPS panel this is what I would recommend below.

Specs of old LG monitor: http://www.cnet.com/products/lg-e2040t-pn-led-monitor-20/specs/

EDIT: Actually that asus monitor is not available in Canada. I will look around for something better than that AOC that is available on newegg Canada or amazon Canada.

Thanks for info. That monitor is available but its near double the price of the monitor I linked before and when comparing them I don't see a difference in specs. What is the difference?

Also do you think I'll see a big difference from TN panel @ 1600x900 to a IPS @ 1920x1080?

My GPU if that helps any is a OC'ed gtx 760

I appreciate your input. I will do some digging on the brand and see what I come up with before purchasing. Tbh I cant see myself spending close to $200 on a new monitor in the near foreseeable future and having the benefit of RMA with newegg is a nice touch over the very questionable "asia" retailers on IPS panel displays from other sites. So in short I am looking for a IPS on the cheaper side but I do want some form of protection. This monitor I linked also comes with a 3 year warranty with AOC but like you said if you cant find alot of them then that warranty may not mean much.

I know AOC as a company my school actually uses some of their cheap 1080 tn panels which are terrible by the way however I hear some of their more expensive monitors are better hopefully the one you linked is one of those. I just dont know that particular AOC monitor nor have I ever used an AOC ips panel, im not even sure if they make their own or use a panel from LG or somebody. Not a whole lot of info on this monitor however user reviews are quite good. I would give it a try if you dont like it return it newegg is useally very good with returns I have never had an issue with them.

Quick update in case anyone wants to know about that monitor that I will be going ahead and buying. I was able to find a fair amount of info on the company AOC. The monitor itself is actually 21.5" not 22" and apparently the vesa rating is odd but it has one. They do honor their warranties and I was able to find a few reviews on youtube, reddit, linustech forums and newegg that back up the monitors quality. I will say when searching that i believe AOC quality varies wildly from product to product. Seems that this monitor in particular is just a decent IPS monitor that alot of people are buying for budget triple monitor setups because of its small bezel.
