monitor randomly loses signal,but the computer remains on?

Hi guys my names Conor,this is my first time posting.My problem is that just recently i upgraded my ordinary pc,I put a new gpu r9 280(xfx) and a new power supply corsair cs550m. Just recently in the past few days when i am gaming my pc randomly loses signal to monitor.The computer keeps running but there is no signal on the monitor,I tried to turn the monitor on and off..to no effect.The problems first began when the top of one of my hdmi cables disconnected from the wire and was left in my pc,I got it out no problem and have since changed my hdmi but just today it happened again whilst browsing. Any help would be great.

Try different drivers.

make sure the gpu is getting adequate power and that all conectors are firmly applied. Only use WHQL drivers (stable). and check amd forums. Make sure old drivers are properly removed, amd has a special program that gets rid of all old drivers. you must do a clean install for optimal results.
