Question Monitor registers signal sometimes, but other times says "Displayport - No Signal".

~25% of the time, my PC boots fine and shows a signal on my monitor (Gigabyte M32UC).

The other ~75% of the time, the monitor does not detect a signal and I need to power the PC off and on multiple times, even so far as unplugging the PSU from the outlet and plugging back in (multiple times, sometimes).

I have my DisplayPort cable plugged into the GPU and the HDMI plugged into the motherboard. Both are plugged into the monitor.

When I am having problems, the DisplayPort input says "No Signal". Interestingly, though, the HDMI input never says "No signal", but always just has a black screen. I disabled integrated graphics - is this why the HDMI plugged into motherboard doesn't show a signal?

There are no EZ Debug LEDs or any other LEDs present on the motherboard after the PC turns on.

I am using the DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor. Unfortunately, I think the latching mechanisms on both ends of the cables is faulty. I am using all my strength to try to press the buttons to detach the cables, but they will not budge.

This problem is really strange to me due to the fact that sometimes there is a signal and it is steady, and other times there is nothing.

Thanks for the help!

PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7700X
Mobo: MSI B650-P Pro Wifi
RAM: GSkill 32GB
GPU: Sapphire 7900 XTX Nitro+
PSU: Corsair 1000e
SSD: Western Digital 2TB Gen4
Monitor: Gigabyte M32UC

You have two cables connected to same pc and same monitor?
Why?

Obviously.
If you disable integrated graphics, then video outputs on motherboard do not work anymore.

Probably a bad cable. Replace it.

Thanks for the reply!

I have both cables connected to try to troubleshoot. Clearly I am a n00b.

I've read conflicting things on disabling integrated graphics. What do you recommend?

If I am unable to press the buttons on the DisplayPort cables to remove them, do you have any suggestions? I don't want to damage the ports on either the GPU or the monitor. I'm considering purchasing some needle nose pliers and seeing if that can produce enough force to get the latches to detach.

Disable iGPU. You'll have more system ram available.
Unless you need it for connecting more monitors.

Can you show a photo?

I don't see any signs of damage.
Should be easy to remove.
Press the button on connector, wiggle it slightly and remove.

If still impossible, then connect HDMI cable to graphics card.
Yeah, it must be an internal defect. The button is not moving at all even if I press it insanely hard.

I could use HDMI, but I'll need to remove the DisplayPort cable eventually (moving to new apartment soon, etc.).

I had the same problem , so at first I made sure that my DP cable, GPU , monitor are all individually working properly by connecting them to a different PC (if possible) , just so that we can be absolutely sure that none of these hardware are at fault.
Then we can look into the firmware for further investigation.
