in January i bought a HP Debranded W2271D monitor for dirt cheap so is why i got it. I have had this issue about the screen in the angle (and most angles seems to have issues with Darker images or dark scenes in games, where it saturates to the point that it seems like the back lighting isn't working at all but if i say, lift my head some it is fine. well., sort of fine still too dark. before this monitor i was using a CRT. so my knowledge of back lit TN displays very limited.
I was wondering if its a matter of adjusting something in the monitor settings that would fix this ,,, or is this just the nature of this particular screen. to be honest it sucks when I'm doing things in darker environments unless i lift my head up like I'm an alert ostrich, which is a strain on the back, I already have the monitor angled down far enough before it becomes inconveniently positioned.
I've went this long with the problem but if I can fix the problem I am very open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

That's normal. Older TN panels have a limited viewing angle. once you're away from that, the image will appear darker. Modern TN panels have mostly eliminated this issue, but it's prevalent on nearly all TN panel monitors older than a couple years.

well i suppose when I finally get around to building the new pc I plan on i better raise the budget up for a much better monitor (heard good things about IPS so ill look into it, one of the things that attracted me to get this one was the response time was 5ms, thanks for the quick answer , Ill wait around see if anyone else chimes in but I have a feeling yours is the correct answer. I didn't think this monitor was that old.

Modern TN panels have mostly eliminated the issue along one axis. That is, as you view the monitor from side to side, it remains reasonably consistent in brightness. But if you tilt the monitor forward or back, the colors will still shift badly.

If you need consistent brightness and colors, you'll need an IPS or equivalent monitor. The Samsung equivalent is called PLS. The AUO equivalent is called AHVA. IPS is a trademark of LG. These do not color shift or change brightness with changes in viewing angle. I actually prefer PLS or AHVA over IPS, as I've noticed the IPS technology results in a lot of light leakage (poor blacks) when you view the screen along a diagonal axis. This is more an issue with phones, tablets, and TVs than it is with monitors. But it's something to consider depending on your usage.

I mostly game but the next system I plan on video editing rendering, 3d rendering, and gaming so Ill need a better and bigger monitor anyway ,, but itll be a while ,, but I plan on a 27 inch 1440p at least, purchase. I was just by some odd luck i could fix the current issue till then but oh well. thanks guys for the answers it told me what i wanted to know. both were good answers so Im just gonna randomly select the best answer to close the topic hehe
