I'm experiencing an issue with my monitor where vertical lines appear across the screen, and the display is heavily distorted. I've attached pictures to show what it looks like

https://ibb.co/TMhsCQK

Additional Info:

  • Monitor Model: DELL AW2518HF
  • No Physical Damage: The monitor hasn’t been dropped or mishandled.
  • GPU is fine
  • Cables are fine
  • IK the issue is with monitor bc I can see the lines even when no displ;ay is connect and its showing dell aw logo.

Questions:

  1. What could be the issue bc its quite hard in my country to get it repaired and i want to keep it as my secondary display ,so i want to have somewhat of an idea what could be wrong like panel itself or something else?
  2. Are there any diagnostic tools I can use to narrow down the issue?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

GPU is fine
How did you verify this?

Cables are fine
How did you come to this conclusion as well?

IK the issue is with monitor bc I can see the lines even when no displ;ay is connect and its showing dell aw logo.
Use GPU-Z and pass on a screenshot of what you see. To note, if you see anything flagged with zero(0)'s. Does your GPU show up with a yellow exclamation in Device Manager, with an error 43 in properties? Have you hooked the display to another system to rule out your platform being the issue?

i changed cables, also the the logo of monitor and no signal detected screen is not dependent on the display from gpu and the issue is present in that too. And I have tried taking display from my laptop and issue is still there. I just want to know if the issue is easily repairable or not bc there not are many reliable or professional ppl i can get my monitor repaired from, in my country and will cost me alot to ship it to them.

it's a long shot but you could try cleaning the HDMI input socket/checking if for any dirt, (switch off and unplug, spray non-conductive contact cleaner up into the HDMI socket on the monitor, plug and unplug a HDMI lead a few times while it's wet, leave it to dry for a good few hours just to make sure then test), sometimes you can get dust or dirt on contacts and it can cause effects like that, but it's probably not this if your seeing the lines on the logo screen

searching the net does reveal a whole host of display issues with that monitor, according to a comment on the dell forum it has an internal diagnostics mode, you could try that:
https://www.dell.com/community/en/c...f-horizontal-lines-2/647f848cf4ccf8a8de36ef0f
but this is probably a fault with the monitor, usually that sort of thing is not easily repairable
