My led monitor dell st220 turns off in the event of power failure even when connected to the ups. The cpu and speakers stay on but the monitor turns off. In short it only works when there is power and it just won't turn on the ups back up while everything else works just fine. Help! What is the problem?

Most UPS devices have several outlets but only a subset of them are battery back up enabled, the rest are just surge protected. On mine, anything plugged in on the left side will work when the power is out, but anything on the right will lose power. Check to make sure you plugged the monitor into a battery back up enabled outlet.

This here, had the same booboo with my media server ups.

Yes the monitor was working fine on the same power outlet earlier. I checked anyway. As soon as the power goes the monitor turns off like a tv and even the power indicator of the monitor turns off.

Perhaps it's more complicated then (I'm no expert). Some devices are very picky about the power they receive, most consumer UPS do not deliver a "proper" AC sine wave as I understand. There is the possibility your monitor or it's AC power adapter don't want to play nice with this type.

The monitor was purchased in 2010 and the problem started now. I think the monitor is dying.🙁. The fact that even the power indicator goes off suggests that the gpu is not at fault maybe. Should i try my monitor with other cpu's?
Also i tried it with a laptop and it runs fine. I am puzzled.

So if I understand correctly the ups has been there awhile with no issues and now this cropped up? Hmmm, perhaps the old girl is going, power supply issues tend to be the first to show. If you have another display to test with that would where I would start. Also I just thought I'd add we recently lost my treasured Acer 1680x1050 (16:9 mainstream die in the fire from whence you came heathen!!!) from about that time period, it was happily humming along on my media server and then started randomly shutting off, then nothing.... We had a small ceremony in the back yard...few were in attendance 🙁
