Hi
I'm looking at buying a Dell P2214H display/monitor.
It has DVI input with HDCP protection.
Never heard of HDCP before..

Does it mean that my DVI cable and/or computer output has to have HDCP as well?
Or does it mean that the monitor is capable of HDCP?
Thanks

Solution
HDCP is just an encryption standard to 'prevent' people from recording the video signal on the wire with a splitter. As long as both ends are encrypted it works fine on any cable.

In that case, what is a "device", and does the DVI cable have to be compatible?
Is my computer HDCP compatible? :)

EDIT: ah the content has to be HDCP too.. Well if internet movie/TV streaming (netflix etc.) is not HDCP then I guess it won't matter

Motherboard is Asus Z170M-PLUS
CPU is Intel i5-6600K
I only use onboard/cpu graphics output
