Monitor won't turn on (Asus VS239H-P). No light, nothing!

I completed my new build today. I turned it on and instantly noticed no light was on the monitor. I connected my computer with display port to hdmi and hdmi to my tv and it popped up. I tried the psu cable, the one it came with, and my friends cable to no avail. I'm hoping there is some secret trick, because I don't want to have to send it back in. Any help?

Do we know the monitor is working ok? Can you connect the monitor to another computer (perhaps a notebook) to verify that the monitor is functioning?
