I am using the Planar SA2311W monitor, which supports up to 120hz, but I can't even get it past 60hz. When I enable anything more than 60hz, the monitor displays a fuzzy image and tells me that I must use a dual link cable that came with the monitor, but I am using that cable. Can anyone help?

Solution
So I just swapped the wires and the ports, (since you said that the cable must be the problme) and I was able to put my monitor up to 1̶0̶0̶h̶z̶. Thank you so much for your help!

EDIT: 120HZ OMG YAY <3
Okay, after having only one monitor plugged in, the screen is still fuzzy, there is no switch, and I will see if I can screenshot the way my monitor looks for you.

Umm this is weird, but I just put my monitor at 1920x1080 @ 120hz and no picture came up, but I tried to take a screenshot anyway. After looking at the screenshot, my monitor seems notmal, but no picture actually shows up.

Here is the screenshot I took: http://imgur.com/5pWfpKa

Someone solving their own issue with the switch http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1874232/amd-detecting-120hz-display.html

Bit of a review and mentions about the dual bios switch. From what i understand it allows a 2nd chance of re-flashing the primary bios if overclocking went bad. Wouldn't be the only reason if people are fixing their 120Hz problems with flick of the switch.

So I shut off the computer and took out the video card because I still couldn't find the switch. I took a video with my webcam and a flashlight and screenshotted the certain parts (dont make fun 😀.) Anyway there was no switch D:

Just realized in your picture, it says R7970 but my card says R7900 series

Yea thats what i thought. This whole switch thing is new to me, just googling amd radeon bios switch 120hz and loads of people are switching whatever the options are to enable 120hz. Also read about the secondary bios recovery.

Displayport to DVI-D Dual Link cable looks like the only option left.

Possibly reference R7900 cooler, not sure.

Oh well, really thought we might have had something going here lol 😀

Solution
Hey guys, I just opened a similar thread and stumbled upon this one and found out that you solved the same issue!

I tried your solution, checking the cable and switching the port - to no avail. Should I also try plugging it in the other way? I don't believe it will work.

Fun thing, I managed to play games on single link. And now when I have dual link, nVidia demo says it runs at 120Hz, but if I try to manually swith it to 120 - no use, fuzzy pic.
I wonder if you could help me as well, here's the link http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2473096/120hz-unsupported-fully-supported-configuration-works-weird-question.html
