Monitorless system program

I am building a NAS and i want it to be monitor less, but i need a program that lets me remotely access it to change and fix file on it. The only program i know of are teamview, and chrome remote desktop, but im unsure if they are able to work on a monitorless system.

What OS?
TeamViewer or remote desktop connection works just fine after you've removed the monitor.

im stll trying to pick from ubuntu and windows,I am not 100% sure yet.

FreeNAS? Only need the monitor for the initial setup, all file manipulation is done by the clients.

I Know one of the main programs i will be running is PMS and it doesnt support freenas but it does support FreeBSD.
