More then 2 Gigs of RAM

i am using a acer aspire 5610 = tried to upgrade ram from the initial 1 gig to 4 gigs - but will not boot up with more then 2 gigs (even with a bios upgrade). Is there a reason it doesn't recognize more then 2 gigs? Or is there something in the bios settings i have to change? Anyone with a real answer would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Should be no problem if using correct ram.
RAM / Max RAM 1GB (2*512) / 4GB of DDR2 533/667 MHz soDIMMs.


Memory Test might be in order.

I take it you have two 2 gig RAM chips. Do they both boot OK by themselves but not together? Need to try both sticks one at a time.
