Hi, i want to buy a B450m motherboard and i'm eyeing on MSI B450m Mortar, but there is another model the Mortar Max.
what is the difference between the Mortar and Mortar Max? what should i pick?
The main difference is that the Mortar MAX supports 3rd gen Ryzen right out of the box while the Mortar has to have the BIOS updated for the 3rd gen Ryzens.
If the price is the same or your going with a 3rd gen Ryzen CPU then grab the MAX.

I think the Ryzen 3000 Ready BIOS is the only difference with the base Mortar.
But that BIOS is more than just 'Ryzen 3000 Ready'. The base Mortar BIOS had to be reduced in size to fit the AGESA code for the new processor so they cut a lot of features some people really like. Such as the graphical interface and saving of overclock profiles in the BIOS.
That's why getting the MAX is preferred if you're going with a 3000 series CPU even if you should have access to a 'Ryzen 3000' ready base Mortar.
