Most needed upgrade

Motherboard: MSI-H61M-P21
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10 Ghz
Memory: Kingston 8GB HyperX Blu DDR3 1333MHz CL9 KIT (2x4)
VGA: AMD Radeon HD 6870
SSD: 120GB Kingston SSD SATA3 2,5" HyperX 3K
+500 GB HDD

I'm mainly thinking of the CPU or the VGA.
Could you help me out a bit?

Probably the Gfx card first. The old i3 can still keep up with faster cards than the aging HD 6870.

Other than gaming, I'd also like to be able to stream but my poor CPU has got only 2 cores..
Will the gfx card upgrade take care of that one?

Your CPU only has 2 cores, but it has Hyper Threading that can handle 4 threads at a time. If gaming is top priority, go for the best card you can afford. If doing CPU intensive work is top priority, then go for an i5 or i7 first. You said CPU or VGA, so I picked the one I thought would make the most difference.

I can steam 1080p just fine on my i3-4130, yours is an older model but should be able to as well, likely the best first choice is a more powerful GPU, if that still isn't enough then you'd have to get a newer CPU.
