Most (not all) desktop icons are white

They all work and are white and ugly,
TF2 avast counter strike, counterstrike condition zero,firefox, CIV V, windows word,roblox, and true image are the only ones that work.
I have a recent file backup the day before this happened, should I use it or fix my own promblems?

I clicked solution by accident I thought it was reply button dangit..... anyways I run 32 bit windows vista

Easiest way to rebuild icon cache on vista is to run this bat file: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/274775d1372780091-icon-cache-rebuild-rebuild_icon_cache.bat You have to restart windows after running it so new cache is generated.

Launch CMD and type each line separately


taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F

DEL "%localappdata%\IconCache.db" /A

shutdown /r /f /t 00
