Mother Board Overheat? ITE IT8728F

Hi everyone.

I just recently installed a new SSD as well as upgraded from a GTX 660ti to a EVGA GTX 970

It took me a while to figure out I needed to manually adjust the fans in the GPU to keep it from overheating while gaming. Now that's fine and I'm just wondering if these temps/fan speeds are adaquate. This is only with Steam downloading/installing The Witcher 3:

My set up is:

with the EVGA GTX 970

Currently my Tower/Fan/Airflow set up is probably not too good:

I am planning on replacing the case in a while as well as adding a cooler master hyper 212 evo later on.

So this is 1 frontal intake, two on the side of the case cracked open and 1 exhaust beneath the PSU, which also has its own exhaust, adjacent to the CPU.

Temp 3 under ITE IT8728F seems high to me. I don't know what each of these sensors represents. I notice that when I manually ramp up Fans 2 and 3 fan 1 goes much quieter but nothing really happens with Temp. In fact Temp goes up 1 - 3 degrees but is always fluctuating.

My ambient Temp is sort of high. Naturally it is the middle of summer in BC Canada and it gets to about 30 - 35C outside, around 20 - 25C inside (no AC in my room though I do have a large window fan exhausting not far from the PC, but the PC doesn't have much for cool air intake.

I recently reseated/thermal pasted/cleaned my heatsink so unless I did it improperly, which I don't believe I did as I was very meticulous doing it, I don't understand what this Temp reading is and why it randomy ran up to over 70C. I know it isn't a faulty sensor because at the same time my FX8350 sensor also began to rise, albeit only to around 50C.

I note the RPM's of Fan #1 reaching 5k +.

Any idea? Am I freaking out? Is it nothing and I'm just worrying or do I have a problem? A little worried to try it under heavy load (IE GTA 5 on max, although earlier I Was playing that and it did not breach 60C a single time.) This is why I find it odd it is ramping up to 60C with just installing The Witcher 3.

Any help is appreciated!

ADD: Is one of these the culprit? The southern one (with gigabyte on it) is right above my GPU.

PSU: also potential issue.

an XG-P600. Also the oldest part of my current build.

Cpu looks at bit high in temps if the system is just on windows desktop, and your only downloading from steam.

I see you have a very small or a stock Amd cooler fitted.
I would kick that straight out of the window and buy an after market one if running a FX 8350 with any sort of over clock on it.

Because your vrm`s are so close to the cpu socket, you want to get a better cooler to keep not only the cpu cool but it also helps keep the cpu socket it`s self much cooler.
It will also blow cold air to or over the heat sink sat on the Vrm`s of the board for the cpu power phase.
Replace the rear fan of the case with at least a 120mm radius fan or a 140mm radius if it fits.

And if you have space to fit another 120mm fan or a 140mm fan at the front of the case do so.
Set them up in a pull (front fan) and Push or exhaust for the rear fan.

That little white fan on the back of the case ain`t going to do much.
Get a side fan of a decent size fitted and have it pushing cold air in.

Then you will see a good difference in temps of the board, and the north and south bridge chips of the board also, and your cpu.
Your Psu is quiet warm also but if you sort the fans out it will also cool it down.

Thanks so much guys!

I've decided I'm going to get the cooler first and then replace my PSU. These are my next steps. A friend mentioned my PSU being 5 + years old and not a very great brand and 600W that it may be having trouble and that could be also causing heat issues.

So

Cooler > PSU > Tower > At the end of the day MOBO. (I hate where S Bridge is sitting just above the hot as sun gtx970)

Am I in any immediate danger? Should I be overly concerned? I have OHWM running consistently so I can check at all times.

Still the same case. Temps don't go over 40c, almost ever. I want to look into a new mobo, essentially, for sata improvement for my SSD and more importantly to have enough room for another gtx 970 so I can SLI

ref the it8728f, beware of this IC's, a large percentage of motherboard repairs are because it has overheated or simply won't work due to a short on the reset, power on circuit etc , it controls the fans , sensors , boot up , a heatsink placed carefully wouldn't hurt ..
