Hi everyone,
I am making a new build with a Gigabyte GA Z97X UD3H and a i5 4690K. Following some advice I decided on a Hyper T4 from Cooler master (instead of an EVO 212).
I noticed some strange behavior on the PWM fan connected and I wanted to ask you guys.
When running an intensive program (like Intel Burn Test), I noticed that the temp goes up to 70-79*. The PWM fan doesn't seem to really kick on until it's 73* plus. Then it cools it down to 50's ish, which is good.
It's the fact that the fan speed is so inconsistent. I've had an EVO 212 and it was very consistent as temperature raised. That was a Gigabyte 970-D3P or something.
My question is, is it an issue with my motherboard or the fan? I'm guessing the motherboard PWM programming . . .
I will try to reseat the cooler and see if there's an issue with the thermal paste. However, I'm guessing it's an issue with the motherboard.
Does anyone know if the motherboard settings can be set to go more consistent? Like Afterburner allows you to make a custom fan setting on a GPU?
IMO above 50 and the fans better be running 50% at least. Above 60 and fans should be at 75%. Above 70 I tend to think the fan ought to run 100%.
Anyhow, any help will be great.
