Motherboad without onboard video has HDMI???

Looking at a Ryzen 7 1700 build and see a lot of motherboards don't have a onboard video chipset but have HMDI and DVI ports. how does the graphics work? the CPU?

The video outs are in preparation for the apu's due out June/July.

Running a standard ryzen chip won't give you any display via those ports

So you are saying the Ryzen cpus currently do not support onboard graphics and you have to use a video card.

Not only currently. That is not going to change in future too. Ryzen CPUs simply don't have iGPU, so they will not give you video through on-board, never.

thanks. I guess I will have to save up more money for my build since I decide to switch to AMD.
I was going with an i7 and get a video card in a few weeks. People are saying the new Ryzen cpus are better for video rendering with Sony Vegas.
