Hello, Could you please advice me a motherboard and ram modules for a i3 4160? it's for home use only, browsing the Internet, office work. h81 are not very good? would a SSD work nice with this setup?
Thanks in advance

H81 motherboards are fine if it provides all the features you plan to use (it does for 95% of people). It has USB3.0, SATA3, a PCI-E x16 slot. It would not do if you plan to use multiple video cards, use more than 2 sticks of RAM, or have more than 2 SSD's (it only has 2 SATA3 ports) or more than 2 external hard drives (it usually has only 2 USB3 ports).

A good alternative if you want newer tech is an H97 mobo. Z97 mobo of course are great, but they have features most people don't use like multiple GPU supoort and overclocking support. There are a few other features available on the Z97 but I don't remember them all.

An SSD would work nicely with just about any setup. I've used them in everything from an old netbook to my MacBook Pro, to my gaming machine, to my server and they all benefitted from the speed.

Thanks everyone for replying.
Budget is not really a big problem, since the pc is for my mother and she prefers quality over budget. Phe pc is really for simple stuff so no need for 2 pci express 3.0, actually i was even getting a graphic card for the moment. As far as MATX or ATX i prefer that wich is more stable and reliable. I live in italy and yes I need a case but more than a case i need advice on the RAM modules to get. 2 SSD's would be fine, I was thinking getting a SSD for system and a HDD for storage. I was thinking, would it be worth it getting a i5 4440? it's 50 € more, has 4 cores and seems to give around 30 % more performarce acording to this:

thanks in advance

If your mom is going to do basic stuff like browsing the i3 is more than enough, the i5 is more aimed at gaming than normal web browsing, it doesnt matter mATX or ATX as long as it is from a reliable brand like Gigabyte or ASUS or AsRock, I wouldn't be too keen on msi because their qc checks are lower standard. Anyway is the motherboard i mentioned ( Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3) should be a good quality mobo, its a one of the most top tier mobos u can buy according to this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2383252/motherboard-tier-list-h81-chipset.html.

Buona Fortuna :) [/quotemsg]

thanks, ill get that mobo then. and wich ram modules would you advice?

Go with SSD for OS and apps, and HDD for storing things like pictures, movies, etc. basically media.

i5 is overkill for the use cases you mentioned. i3 is great. even a fast pentium would be fine- the key is the SSD. it will make a world of difference in the perception of speed of the machine.
