Ok, so I upgraded to windows 10 around 5 months ago now and have not needed to use the onboard audio as I use a USB headset so recently I wanted to get some speakers so checked the audio and installed the realtek audio driver.

When I plugged in a pair of earphones/headphones in both the front and back audio ports I got static and realtek was constantly popping up saying a device was plugged in then unplugged even when I did not have anything plugged in at all so I have had to uninstall realtek again.

Is there any way I can fix this or anything I can do to use speakers without the audio ports like a work around?

Thanks :)

If I understood your original post, you are getting a message from the realtek control panel that something was plugged in and then another it was unplugged even if you have nothing plugged in ... is that correct?

Some of my computers have a "Realtek HD audio manager". Along the right side of this software it shows all the audio ports on my computer. When something is plugged into one it lights up. I was wondering if you have something similar and if you can identify which port is lighting and dimming. This is likely the port with the issue. If this port happens to be one of the front ports, then it is easy to remove it from the system.

Hearing static is common when there is a short in the system somewhere.
Sounds like you have a short in one of your audio plugs (could even be something stuck inside). You could try using compressed air to blow out the plugs.

Did you notice if the said the port being plugged in and out of was one of the front panel plugs? If so, I would remove the front audio connector from it's header. If you really wanted front audio later, then you could go with an aftermarket panel that goes into one of your 5.25 inch bays.

Another possible work around is disabling onboard audio in BIOS and then using a sound card.

The thing is the audio port in the actual motherboard was just emitting static even if I wasn't using the front panel, I did disable the option that turns off the back port when the front is plugged in aswell :S

Ok, so I reinstalled the software and yes it is the front panel audio port although when i disable the front port detection I am still only hearing static in the back port even when audio is playing
