Question motherboard audio

my motherboard(aorus elite) has ALC1220-VB audio chipset and the front panel of my cabinet(aorus ac300w) audio jack connects with a AC97 cable.
my question is will there be a difference if I connect my headphone to the back panel(directly to mobo) or to front panel(cabinet) ?

some do some don't
a lot have auto sensing, so shouldn't be a problem
nothing will blow up or break by doing this, even if it doesn't auto sense
