Hey guys,
I had some booting problems whit my PC and it was PSU to blame, long story short
Now i got new Cooler Master B600w and after connecting it one of resistors blow on my motherboard. Its under 5 year warranty but im not sure they will accept it.
Its B85 Vanguard, dmg is marked on picture, no other can be seen whit naked eye.

I tested new PSU, its working. What could have cause this? If i get this one repared, if it can be salvaged, or buy another one will it happen again? The case was clean of any screws and well conected.

Looks like a voltage regulator blew. You should be able to RMA if it hasn't been 3 years since you purchased it.

It was 120mm case fan.
It blew on 1st start.

Was it a 4-pin fan or was it a 3-pin or even 2-pin fan connected onto the wrong header pins?

On old PSU PC needed LOONG time to start, so it would go in to a loop, but it worked properly when ON even under full load, but if u turn it OFF u couldn't restart it again. So i changed PSU (old was NJOY 600W) and i took cooler master b600w, and on the 1st start whit new PSU it blew.

Just got news from ASUS service, they rejected my warranty saying blown VR is result of over voltage, so its not MOBO fault. They want me to pay 40$ to fix bad VR. So is it brand new cooler master PSU to blame for this? Can unstable voltage from old dying PSU cause dmg on MOBO that will reveal itself when new PSU is connected? Its so strange new PSU has OVP yet this happened.

Pick up a 500W EVGA PSU for $40. Very reliable and cheap.
