Are there any major differences between the MSI PRO Z790-A WiFi(DDR5) and the MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI(DDR5)?

The specification sheets of each motherboard at the MSI website should reveal any differences. Reasonable chance you would not consider them "major", depending on what you personally require.

Might be something like type of monitor connections, number of M.2 ports, etc.

Apart from the aesthetics, the higher overclocking support for ram, more USB ports, the lack of a DP, the extra buttons on the back and the extra M.2 slot, not to mention the higher quality componentry for the VRM when looking at the Carbon(when compared to the Pro) there's nothing much different to them. To summarize, the Carbon is a higher pedigree board.

Would you say it would be worth it to spend the extra money on the carbon over the pro?

I don't know what you'll be pairing with that board, what you'll be taxing your build with and what sort of a budget you have, to also add the sort of boards you have access to, the case you're working with. So, in a nutshell I can't recommend one over the other without greater context.

If you wanted my 2 cents, I'd avoid anything that has a Pro moniker on it from MSI's camp/portfolio.

If you're running an i9 or an unlocked i7 that you plan on OC then the Carbon for sure.
