Hi

Would a GeForce GTX 770 be compatible with the G31M-S2L motherboard?

Many moons ago I got a Gigabyte G31M-S2L motherboard. I've managed to keep this old motherboard for a long time, upgrading the GPU, RAM and CPU. At the moment I feel the only thing holding my gaming back is the graphics card.

Current specs:
Gigabyte G31M-S2L motherboard socket 775
Intel Core 2 Quad - Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5700
4GB RAM
620W PSU

The gfx card apparently needs a PCIx16 slot, and my mobo has one. But I'm seeing things about 3rd generation PCI slots.

Solution
PCI-E slots are backwards compatible so your motherboards can handle GTX-770 but your CPU would bottleneck your card!
Think about getting at least i5 CPU to run single GTX-770!
