Motherboard dg41rq and radion hd4870

I have a home pc running win 7, problem is this is a spare and has a Radion hd4870 fitted but I think it broken. my problem is I get a 'no signal' message when I plug it in to use. I know that the monitor and cable are fine as I've tested them on another pc. Question:
Does my mobo have on board graphic's and sound ?
If so can I use my monitor through the DVI port and should I remove the card first.

I think that 4870 requires extra 6pin or 8pon connector, it wont work without it.

The radion always used to work and getting a signal wasn't an issue. I have just renewed a CPU fan and fitted an old HD with win vista on it, but get no signal. That's why I asked if I use my monitor through the DVI port and should I remove the card first and does my mobo have on board graphic's and sound ?
