Hey guys, I been planning to overclock my CPU for awhile now. But idk what factors i should consider before over clocking it, I know I should get a cpu cooler but that's all i know. and i also heard that motherboard is also a factor for overclocking the cpu.

Heres my motherboard -> http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c02560084

My cpu is Phenom II X6 1045T 2.70 GHz Processor

Can I overclock by just getting only CPU fan cooler? Thanks I appreciate your comments and feed back :)

Only socket AM3 processor fit, I suggest just getting a whole new motherboard with a Intel CPU as AMD CPUs are really outdated.

I see thanks for making it clearer. Do you think I should just buy a new CPU instead? Can my motherboard able to hold i5 processors or amd?

Okay thanks for the help brother, last question though, is AM3 socket different from AM3+ sockets? can my motherboard hold either?

Would you like me to give you a recommendation for a new motherboard and CPU? I can work with a budget if you have one.

You're good, that's all I need to know thank you. Last question though, is am3 different from am3+ sockets? or my motherboard able to hold either?

Yes, you cannot use FX series CPUs, which are AMD latest CPU line (although they still suck because they were made in 2013 and have no upgrade path).
