Motherboard HDMI super laggy

So I just built my computer and I switched my monitor hdmi from the graphics card (gtx 1080) hdmi to the mother board hdmi port (msi pro carbon z270). My mouse now lags a ton and every thing just seems super laggy. I updated the VGA and other drivers already for the mobo but no help. Please help me figure this one out!

I have a 4k 60Hz monitor.

When you connect to the motherbd graphics ports then you are using the built in gpu of the intel processor and not your gtx1080.
I'd suggest switching back.
