This is my first time building a computer, and the MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard is the motherboard I plan to use. Does this motherboard come with a built in wifi and sound card?

Depends on your needs.
A basic headset/headphones/speakers would work fine on it. But depending on needs sometimes a sound card is desired.
