Just a quick question. I know this has been answered probably a few times but the questions that were already asked aren't asked exactly how I want to ask it and the answers don't necessarily mean that they cover my question.

Anyways,

For example, the B250M MORTAR ARCTIC mobo supports DDR4-2400 max but does that mean it has to be 2400 or can I go higher? I understand that it will only work at 2400mhz but can I still use a higher grade card?

Solution

You can go higher but the fastest it will run on the board is 2400. Unless you plan to someday replace the board with a Z270 that can run the faster memory buying anything faster than 2400mhz is a waste of money.
