Hello,
I'm currently picking parts for my first build, and I have a very limited idea about what I'm doing.
So far this site has been extremely helpful, but I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers for just looking around the site.
The first is about a motherboard I'm looking at:
the motherboard.
Ok, so as far as I understand, the numbers by Memory Standard in the specifications are the speeds of ram that the motherboard can support.
Currently I'm looking at these two kits:
kit #1
kit #2
and both of them have a speed of 1600. The motherboard does not have that speed listed, but it does have the higher speed of 2200 listed.
Will either of these memory kits reach full speed on the motherboard (or am I missing something big and they are not compatible at all)?
On a side note, are either of these good choices for memory? If not, what would be a better choice?
Question 2:
I've also been looking at this board:
other motherboard
It explicitly lists 1600, but seems to only go up to 2000 (and I think OC means when overclocked?) but is half again the price of the first one, and i'm thinking the price is coming from better PCI slots (?) which I don't think I'll need, as I plan to only buy one graphics card at the moment.
Would this motherboard give me some advantage I'm not seeing if I don't plan on buying two video cards?
and lastly:
I have never overclocked anything in my life, and as such, would either of these boards be awful to do my first overclocking experiment on? or should i just stick to the basics before attempting to overclock XD
Anyways, I appreciate any advice you all can give, and thank you for taking the time to read this!
