Hello Everyone.

I have an issue with my motherboard. when I press the power button, it powers on for 3 seconds, goes off, power on for 3 seconds again and the loop continues. On continuity mode, my multimeter detects 10 shorted mosfets and 6 shorted solid state caps around the VRM.

when I unplug the 12V VRM power cable, the motherboard switches on normally and there is no short at all

When I remove the processor, and plug in the 12v VRM power cable, no short. the motherboard switches on normally.

So, basically, the motherboard goes into the restarting loop and short when the processor is in and the 12v VRM power cable is in.

Can anyone help please? My motherboard is a GA-X48-DQ6

thank you

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

We're going to need a little more information. When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

Also, can you see visible scorch marks on the parts that you state are shorted? What of the underside? If the board is atop a test bench, can you parse a picture of what the soldering job looks like? Bulging caps?
