[SOLVED] Motherboard Nvme SSD compatibility importance

So I have a Aorus Gaming K5 Z270 and I've been looking at getting a 1tb Nvme SSD, either the hp ex900 or a transcend mte220s but I realised they're not on my motherboards compatibility list. However I was reading a similar thread and people were saying it's fine and the only downside is not being able to make full use of the speed.

So is using incompatible ssds a complete no-go or should I go for it?

Most QVL lists are incomplete, you should be able to have success on NVMe.

If it's m.2 with 4x PCIE then you should be able to get the 'full speed' of PCIE 3.0, being around 3.5GB/sec in sequential transfers, assuming the drive you select is also of those parameters
