Motherboard or PSU possibly broken.

I recently purchased an ASUS crosshair v Formula Z, AMD FX 9370(with stock liquid cooling system), and CORSAIR CXM series CX750M 750W PSU to upgrade my old computer. Parts from the old computer include a basic ASUS CD drive, 500gb Seagate Harddrive, and an Nvidia 560 Graphics card none of which have had issues in the past. The computer worked great for about a month and a half but then randomly started restarting. Ive been trying a few different things to get it to stop none of which worked. Then today it turned off instead of restarting and wouldnt turn back on. The mobo showed FF on it. I unplugged and openned the case just to spray canned air inside and make sure all the connections were square but now not only will the computer not turn on but the lights on the mobo dont turn on when the computer plugged in. I never tried overclocking or anything like that and have no idea whats wrong or how to test whats wrong. I do have my old mobo and PSU although the old PSU doesnt have the power to support my new build so I dont know if its be safe to try and swap it to see if the [strike]old [/strike] new one is defective. Okay so I have been having this exact same problem. I think that the problem is that the system is drawing too much power during certain moments. What I have to do is once the pc is shut down, switch the power supply off and then press the pc on button. This should discharge the leftover power in the system. I then turn the power supply on and turn the pc back on. I am going to test this theory by using a second psu on the graphics card so that I know that I am nowhere near the maximum power that my psu can provide. I will test this this afternoon and post back. Hope this helped!!!

I tried that but nothing. My whole rig is just dead. No fan activity no lights no noise nothing.

The CX750M is a cheap power supply with poor capacitors , shouldn't be running a nice rig like yours.

I don't think its, the supply , your board may have died.

so do you think the supply had anything to do with the board dying or it just died and should i look for a new power supply to avoid problems in the future or a better psu would just be a nice thing to have?

Update: i plugged in the psu from my old build into the mobo and switched it on and the lights all came on. so i thought it must have been the psu but just out of curiousity i put my new build back together exactly the way it was before and its working again. so i guess somehow unplugging it and such did what rjvitt was saying about discharging extra power maybe? anybody know what might have happened and what i should do to keep this from happening again?

Update: im using the computer again and one time it seemed like it was struggling so i shut it down adn the monitor said no signal like it was off but the whole rig was still running. mobo on processor on fans all spinning and it stayed like that til i held the power button. would that mean its my supply not shutting off or mobo not following directions properly? it only happened once and since then i havent really noticed any issues im just still trying to work out which piece is messing up
