motherboard processor compatible?

I'm kind of wondering about getting a new processor for my computer and I didn't know if its compatible with my motherboard. Is there a website that will tell you what motherboard is compatible with a new processor? I have a stock Dell motherboard that has an i5 580. I would like to upgrade to an i5 4690 K. I just want to know if it'll work in my motherboard before I go and spend the money.

No need to upgrade the cpu if you're not willing to change it to an i7 of the same Intel Generation

I'm willing to upgrade to an i7, I just didn't think that I could upgrade to an i7 because I have an iPhone 5 right now. I don't know a lot about motherboards I just know about other components.I'm just looking for something to upgrade my motherboard to give me better performance in first person shooting games. I've already upgraded my graphics card to an NVIDIA GTX 980 and 16 gigabyte of Ripjaw RAM. just looking for something that might give me a little bit better frames per secondand a little bit more of an edge for online gaming. I have a 100G cable internet

Good for you.

Your current i5 should work fine with just one gtx 980, upgrading to an i7 will only provide minimal improvement
