motherboard speeds vs price

Looking to upgrade from i7 3770k , Searching around looking at prices, and reading some threads, i came across a few threads that state not to spend extra on a board if you do not overclock ?.
So the question is , is the cheaper boards as fast as the more expensive ones at stock speeds ? say 370 vs 470 ?.. And what would be a good upgrade from 3770k ? amd or intel ..

Cheaper boards can be just as quick as more expensive ones but it depends on all components combined and what application/game you want to be 'faster' in. What are you trying to achieve by upgrading?
