Motherboard Too Hot

Hey there,

Recently I got an Asus P6T Deluxe (X58) and have an I7 920 OC'd on it @ 4ghz. I noticed earlier that my clocks had gone down to 2.4ghz and so I quit my game, ramped up my fan speed and a few mins later they returned to 4ghz. I touched the the big heatsink in the middle of the mobo that connects to the NB, mosfets etc. via heatpipes and got a nice little burn on my hand (It was extremely hot). As a quick temporary fix I got a 92mm fan and placed it over the heatsink running at its max speed (It can only go 1500rpm).

I have a new cpu (X5650) coming this week alongside 2 new 140mm fans for my Corsair H110 (https://www.scan.co.uk/products/140mm-nanoxia-deep-silence-pwm-ultra-quiet-pc-fan-700-1400-rpm) so I'll be able to get anything done to the PC that I need to. I don't actually have a proper way of measuring the temps of the motherboard because the sensors seem to be a bit dodgy in HWmonitor (Reporting anywhere from 0c to 600c lol, apart from one that sits around 50c-60c which i doubt is right because the heatsink is at least 80c).

Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I tried removing the heatsinks etc. on the vrms and chipsets but I popped out the pins and simply couldnt lift it off (Was a bit afraid of damaging them, unless it takes some force to remove?) so I could try forcing that off and replacing the thermal paste?

Also I think I may need to introduce a little more airflow into the case and was thinking would it be okay if I changed the rear 120mm exhaust to an intake and then put the 2 stock 140mm fans from my h110 as low rpm exhausts in the top when I get my new fans?

I'm just a bit unsure on where to go from here tbh.
Thanks in advance

When you're overclocking that unit that much, your chipset is gonna get toasty for sure. If you're gonna stay with a mad overclock like that, I would ditch that AIO watercooler, and go with a custom loop. That way you may be able to find a cpu/chipset block for your mobo. I have a 980x Extreme edition running at 4.5, and I had to get a small 40mm fan from one of my cisco switches, and mount it to the heatsink for my NB.

Whilst that is an alright solution, I'm not willing (partly because I cant afford it) to spend the amount of money needed for a custom loop on this system.
