Hi everyone I am getting a new MOBO, case & CPU I've decided on this case:

http://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Enthoo-Chassis-Window-PH-ES614P_BK/dp/B00K6S1B3Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1459302917&sr=1-1&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_four_browse-bin%3A6570424011%2Cp_72%3A1248879011%2Cp_n_condition-type%3A2224371011%2Cp_36%3A1253505011

and I am probably going with an i7-6600k (Is there a better CPU for around that price range?)

I hardly know anything about motherboards other then you need to correct socket for the CPU and ram. I am looking for something around 100-120$ if possible, and overclock friendly It will need at least 3 3.0 usb ports as well for VR.

PS: Are motherboards one size fits all when it comes to cases at least for mid and full towers?

Thank you

From what I've seen a 212 should be fine using the plate you have on your current board. If you still have the box with any adapters then you'll be totally fine but I don't think there will be a issue.
I will say that I am upgrading from a i5-3570k which I use the OC genie to get it to 4.2ghz, I have been told that the CPU is still good by some and that I should upgrade by others. (coupled with a 980ti, 750w PSU)

The thing is I really want a new case (this ones airflow is atrocious and its just super old, my motherboard is very old as well Z68)

So my logic was hell if I'm upgrading the case i may as well kill three birds with one stone since a newer MOBO won't be compatible with my current CPU

Getting a new case is always a great time to upgrade (that's a pretty good case btw). But that doesn't mean you HAVE to. It really depends on what you want to run. A rift, or 4k would require a upgrade, as well as just future proofing for later. That said, if you're going to spend the money, and you're looking at a gaming rig, I'd save a bit of cash on the 6700k and get the 6600k and put that cash into a ASRock Fatality or MSI M3 or M7.

Yes this machine is used primarily for games

Thanks for your replies this is a big help, as you would have guessed I'm not an expert lol.

My thought process was if I'm going to drop a couple hundred on the CPU I may as well get a i7 however looking at this http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6600K/3502vs3503 it looks like the i7 is only a bit better (although I have no idea what the 7% means in real time performance) then the i5 so I'm thinking it may not be worth it.

I like the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130874 and I can also used the money saved for DDR4 ram since I'll need that it looks like.

Here's a single 8gig stick of that same RAM for $30. You can just run that now and still have 8gigs, then upgrade to another stick later for 16gigs and keep your dual channel. Or get 16gigs now.

Running 2x4gig sticks in dual is fine, but if you ever want to upgrade you'd be better off buying two more sticks and keeping them in the dual channel slots instead of using all 4 memory slots on the MB.

Just get the single stick and save $11 or get two and spend a extra $19.
