Hi guys,

I have a very strange problem indeed, maybe someone can shed some light. I have a bluetooth dongle which does not work on one of my usb ports on my motherboard. At first I thought right the usb port has gone faulty and move the usb bluetooth dongle to another usb port as the bluetooth dongle works on every other usb port on my pc apart from the one that i am having issues with.

The strange thing here is, that port which I thought was faulty is working fine, I have tried all other usb devices on the port which I thought has a issue, such devices I have used as USB Pen drives, external hard drives, keyboards and mouses and the port works fine like all the other usb ports on my pc. But soon as I attach my bluetooth dongle to the port which causes me issues windows starts throwing a fit.

The other strange issue is, if i move the dongle left and right while its inserted into the usb port which is causing me issue the device starts working and then stops again. But If i use any other device in that port such as usb pen drives, mice, keyboard or hard drives and move the devices around left and right while they are inserted into the usb port, no error or problems occur, any other device works flawless, apart from that usb bluetooth dongle. How is that possible? that this one device has issues with one usb port yet works in every other usb port without problems?

The error message that I get is the following:

"The last usb device you connected to this computer malfunctioned , and windows does not recgonize it"

When I look at my reliability monitor this is listed as the issue:

Hardware Error:
"USBHUB3 DEVICE ENUMERATION FAILURE"

I dont understand how is it that every other known device works in the port this bluetooth dongle is having issues with.

Solution
One reason that is the bluetooth dongle has problem, like the USB connector does not fit well with the USB port, because you did try other USB devices in the same port. Or the compatibility problem.
This isn't really all that uncommon. Certain ports don't play nice w/ certain devices when using third-party controllers. My Skylake HTPC for example the wireless keyboard dongle only works in 2 ports out of 6 on the back panel, 1 being USB 3.1. When its plugged into the other ports, I get a USB malfunction popup in the system tray.

I guess its the device then, i do find it very strange as every other device works in the usb port which this dongle does not like, lol. Thanks for the help guys
