Question Motherboard video card compability

Hi ,

i am thinking to upgrade my current video card , my current motherbord is Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO. I checked asus webpge its written 3x PCIe 2.0 x1 and 2x PCIe 3.0 x 2 .
Will most new vga cards work on it or should i beware of something?
