Hi,
I've just spent the past two days struggling to get the internet working on an XP Pro Packard Bell desktop. It had a re-installation from XP home to XP Pro service pack 3. Since then the desktop has not been able to connect to the Belkin G+MIMO Wireless modem router via the cd setup, or through a manual setup where an IP opens the setup to the router.
I then checked my hardware device manager and found that the;
AMD 690G Chipset Driver for the SM Bus Controller
Motorola SM56 Modem driver for the PCI Modem
ATI Display Drivers for the Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
ATI GART Drivers for the PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
AMD 690G Chipset Driver for the Ethernet Controller and
Compro Vista TH350i Videomate Series Driver for the Multimedia controller
all have yellow question marks and exclamation marks next to them. I've been trying to locate the drivers by using another laptop that i have connected to the internet, downloading to a usb stick and then copying across. First i tried using one of those Driver scanners but the none of the drivers it found were extractable from there zipped up states due to them "part of a spanned set, please insert the last disk of the set into the drive" but i had no disks!
I am having trouble finding these drivers. Am i doing the right thing. Is the missing or corrupt driver the cause of the desktop not being able to access the belkin router. I have tried using the rollback and "add hardware" facility within XP but the required drivers cannot be found.
PLease help
