mouse choices are hard

hey guys, i want to buy a gaming mouse. but im stuck betwenn the choice of buying a wired and a wireless one. ofc wired ones cost less and they look superbly deluxe but will they last longer tahn wireless ones?

a lot of gaming mice have very similar variants in wired and wireless. maybe not the same mouse, but still companies try to give you options. the real question with wireless is the input lag it can introduce. for a long time gamers have frowned on wireless mice for this, though in the last year or so we've started seeing newer offerings in the wireless category which have pretty much imperceptible input lag compared to their wired competition.

so, really, the question is not which will be more durable over time but what do you want? what do you want to spend? what functions do you want? shiftable dpi settings? a few extra buttons or maybe a whole bunch like an mmo mouse? do you think the wired mouse will constrain you? do you need to be able to move the mouse around the room enough that wireless is a must?

though an older option, i have a logitech proteus core. these days its called a proteus spectrum since they added full rgb for the lights. i dont think i could like it more. i dont need wireless, or a ton of extra buttons. i use all the functions it offers me but dont really ever feel i need more buttons. it tracks spectacularly on my desk, though im sure some people would consider me a heathen for not using a mouse pad. i'd say its moderately priced for a nice gaming mouse, they can certainly get more expensive. but theres also a lot of cheaper options out there if you dont want to spend so much.

The decision between wired or wireless mouse should not come from price or robustness.
Wireless mouse is more comfortable to use and you must change the battery or charge the battery once in a while
Wired mouse has much less input lag, less comfortable (cable mouse bothers me a lot) and they are free from any battery change or charge issue.

Tips:
For robustness, most mice regardless of cable or wireless are robust enough just do not go too cheap. I would set USD20 as minimum.

If you are interested, I have several mice at home 2x Logitech M705 (5 years old and 6 years old both daily used up to 5 hours, I have to change the battery every 2.5 years) and an MX Master 2S (2 months old, replacing the 6 years old mouse, the 6 years old is used only up to 2 hours daily)

I don't know of any serious gamer that uses a wireless mouse. If you don't care much about playing at the top of what you can play, then it does not matter and just pick one you liked using. Unless you are setting up your system for the least amount of variance when it comes to game time reaction, what you pick does not matter too much.

I don't know of any serious gamer that uses a wireless mouse. If you don't care much about playing at the top of what you can play, then it does not matter and just pick one you liked using. Unless you are setting up your system for the least amount of variance when it comes to game time reaction, what you pick does not matter too much.

hey i dunno if you play csgo but if i by any chance buy a wired one, will it reduce my flicking skills with the awp or the ssg 08 because of the cord?

My son plays CSGO at a decently high rank and has no issues with a wired mouse. The pro players also use wired mice, the Zowie models, Razer Mamba and HyperX Pulsefire FPS are some of the top ones.

You can find the prices for the mice easily, there are many stores selling them.
A good mouse will be in the $30-60 range without getting very fancy. The pro level mice are on the higher end of that.

If you are a serious gaming, wired mouse is the way to go. I personally do not like wired mouse due to comfort and preference, yet , I am not a serious gamer.
Wired mouse has a lot less input lag than wireless mouse.
Having as low input lag as possible is crucial, if you play games seriously.
Pro gamers have thus only wired mice.
Pro gamer's mice can be costly but you do not have to go that far, even a relatively simple Logitech G502, which is still around 50 bucks (probably slightly less than 50 bucks), is already very good.

More tips to choose mice:
People have different hand grip some is using the palm grip, some has the claw grip. Some like the mouse to be slightly heavy, others want it as light as possible. Some like big mouse, some want it small (regardless of hand size)
Choose your mouse correctly by trying to hold the mouse you wanna buy. Find them on physical stores and try them first before buying.
