I've been having some issues with my mouse while playing video games lately. It will randomly disconnect itself in the middle of a game, freezing my entire PC for a few seconds. As it reconnects shortly after, it freezes the PC again. I've tried reinstalling drivers, which did nothing. I've tried updating the mouse's firmware and plugging it into another port. Nothing. The really weird part is it only happens when I'm gaming. Browsing the internet works just fine. I have a Steelseries Sensei. What could be happening?

Your computer's power needs ramp up during gaming sessions. It sounds like perhaps either the PSU can't deliver enough power to the computer or can't deliver it uniformly so some of your peripherals disconnect and reset at its worst. Only way to test this theory is to see if a friend has a PSU that is larger than yours that you can borrow and try out.

Of course I could be wrong. I have seen some Razer mice cause problems like this with the Synapse software.

It's a 750W PSU with only 1 GPU running (980 and an i7-4790K). It should be fine. Although, I guess it could be failing... how would I even check that?

That is certainly enough power but it could be failing. I like NextGear's step better as an easier step to determine if the problem is with the mouse itself though. Grab another mouse and game for an hour or so and see if it happens with it. If not then it is just your mouse.

To test a PSU though you would have to have another one available to you to use for the test. Not always the easiest thing but if you have another computer or a friend that would be willing to help out you could use his/hers in your computer for a gaming session and see if the problem continues.
