Mouse for Photoshop on Metal Desk

Though the subject might sound stupid, I assure you it's a problem that plagues me constantly. I have an old metal desk in my office (like 60s old) and I've been using wireless mice on it. I get decent response with it, but at times it's really difficult to use for precision tasks such as photoshop. Sometimes I can't even get it to zero in on the right things in excel. It seems the slower I go, the worse the response is.

I'm wondering if the problem is more the metal desk interfering with the RF signal, or if I need a higher DPI mouse. I'm currently using a Logitech M510 with the receiver about 2' away from the mouse. If it makes a big difference, I can go wired. There's a lot of shuffling on the desk, so wireless is nice to create space.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

More likely to be something to do with the actual surface that you're using the mouse on as optical mice can still be a bit picky about reflective surfaces. Are you still using a mouse pad?

yes... what kind of mousepad are you using?

i would suggest a standard black foam rubber mousepad you can get just about anywhere.

my buddy at work uses a desk similar to the one you speak of with a wireless mouse and zero issues even with the pc under the desk. he even uses a similar logitech mouse but does use a mousepad.

i cannot imagine the metal desk being a factor in this case.

I'm not using a mousepad, so if it's that easy I'll be stoked! The PC is on top of the desk, so that shouldn't be affected, but I just figured metal and RF aren't friends. I'll try that out this weekend. Thanks guys!
